The mission of the New River Valley Home Builders Association Scholarship Committee is to support the future growth of the Construction Industry by providing aid to deserving students enrolled in construction-related studies at Virginia’s Universities, Colleges, Trade Schools and within Working Internships. We will present a scholarship of $1,000 to a graduating senior from a New River Valley High School who is interested in entering the Construction Industry. The "One” Memorial Scholarship Honoring Hunter Nathanael Smith (BHS Class of 2011) is awarded to a senior graduating from Blacksburg High School and continuing his or her education at a four-year college or university. The Crandall & Katt, Attorneys at Law Academic Scholarship Program will offer a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a local high school senior to be used for educational purposes beyond high school. This scholarship will be provided to a local student planning to enroll at either a college, community college, university or trade school.
To enter and qualify, the applicant must submit a 300-word minimum essay addressing this question: “What will the legal future hold for driverless cars that are involved in accidents?”
Attached with the essay, please include a copy of the applicant’s resume (including current GPA) as well as what university, college or community college the applicant is planning to attend.

This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding high school senior who plans to pursue studies in a human services/human medical field. Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity chapters at six universities in Virginia are offering $10,000 in scholarships to incoming freshmen men at the following schools for the 2019-20 academic year - VT, CNU, VCU, GMU, RU, W&M. Scholarships range from $500 to $1000. Applicants have no obligation to join or affiliate with SigEp to be eligible. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to South West Virginia area, African-American graduating high school seniors who desire advanced education and who have attended a local high school for the last two years. Two $1000.00 awards will be given to qualifying local area high school students. Applicants who demonstrate need will be judged on their academic standing, personal achievement, community involvement, and one letter of recommendation from members of the school administration and/or teachers and one personal reference letter. The Virginia School Counselors Association has announced the 2019 Scholarship Essay Competition. Participants are asked to submit an essay about a School Counselor (Elementary, Middle, or High School) who has made a difference in your academic, career, and/or social development. This Scholarship is for Virginia graduating Seniors in the Class of 2019 who plan to attend a two or four year college or university, trade or technical program or enlist in any branch of the military.
