The OppU Achievers Scholarship celebrates students who transform opportunity into results. It rewards achievement in its many forms and honors those who create opportunity for both themselves and others. To apply, submit a short response at opploans.com/scholarship. The Virginia School Counselors Association has announced the 2019 Scholarship Essay Competition. Participants are asked to submit an essay about a School Counselor (Elementary, Middle, or High School) who has made a difference in your academic, career, and/or social development. This Scholarship is for Virginia graduating Seniors in the Class of 2019 who plan to attend a two or four year college or university, trade or technical program or enlist in any branch of the military. All applications are due by March 29. At least one scholarship of $1,000.00 will be awarded. The application can be found by clicking here. No hard copy applications are available. Katie Higgins Memorial Scholarship will award a $2,000 Scholarship.

The Rev. George Ducker Scholarship is awarded in memory of the Reverend George L. Ducker, member of the New River Community Action Board of Directors 1986-1992, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Radford, Radford City School Board and United Way Board member, community leader and advocate of quality education for all. The Virginia Department of Education announces the Granville P. Meade Scholarship which provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college. You can find a copy of the application by clicking here or see Ms. Dwoyer in the counseling office. Applications are due to Ms. Dwoyer by March 12. Please note, this application will require at least three recommendation letters, so if you plan to apply you should start this application and contact recommenders as soon as possible.

This award will recognize outstanding Fine Arts seniors, who also exhibit Rotary’s ideal of Service Above Self. This award will be selected from nominations received from Montgomery County seniors. The award includes a $1,000.00 scholarship towards next fall's college tuition costs.
Selection criteria includes: 1. Student must be a graduating MCPS senior who will attend college next fall, and whose primary interests / studies are in Fine Arts fields. 2. Student’s personal character and service to others will weigh heavily in the selection process, and examples or descriptions should be included. 3. Student’s achievements and dedication towards Fine Arts education is important. 4. While not a requirement, the pursuit of a Fine Arts degree will enhance the nominations.

Ruritan is America's leading community service club. Ruritan is dedicated to making your community a better place in which to live and work. The Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club is pleased to announce the availability of three scholarships of up to $500 each to attend any accredited post-secondary institution. These scholarships require at least 100 hours of community volunteer service within the past twelve months. Selection will be made on community volunteer service, scholarship, extra-curricular activity, and perceived need. Applications must be submitted by March 31. APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 31
In a 1,000-1,250-word essay, respond to the prompt: "Why Diplomacy and Peacebuilding Matter". The winner receives $2,500, a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet a member of the State Dept.'s leadership, and a full scholarship for a Semester at Sea educational voyage. Runner-up receives $1,250 and a full scholarship to attend the International Diplomacy Program of the National Student Leadership Conference. Details at www.afsa.org/essaycontest.
