Each year, the Craig Botetourt Electric Cooperative Education Scholarship Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships. A combination of weighted criteria is used in the selection process: 40% financial need; 40% academic achievement; and 20% personal statement. Funds can be applied towards tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks, and are sent directly to educational institutions.

The Virginia High School League (VHSL), in partnership with its corporate sponsors, offers scholarships for college bound seniors. Through these scholarships, the VHSL is committed to supporting and investing in Virginia’s youth. Students must be nominated by their school.

DWOYER DUE BY FEBRUARY 1 The Roanoke Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc. is part of a national organization of approximately 1500 professional women in forty-eight chapters from coast to coast. The mission of the organization is to exhibit friendship through networking projects across America and to support community, cultural and educational agendas. The Girl Friends, one of the oldest organizations of African American women in the United States, was founded in 1927 in New York during the creative period of the Harlem Renaissance. Three scholarships are being offered to high-achieving, African
American students. 1. The Girl Friends Memorial Scholarship is to assist a student at a community college or a four year accredited institution. The $750.00 scholarship will assist a student with the cost of tuition, books and/or other mandatory fees. 2. The $1000.00 Roanoke Chapter’s Girl Friends Scholarship is to assist a student who plans to attend an accredited four (4) year college or university with the cost of tuition and/or fees. 3. The National $1000.00 to $1500.00 Girl Friends Fund Scholarship is to a high school senior that has been accepted to a four-year institution. This award is renewable for up to four years, provided applicable academic requirements are met by the scholar. Scholarship eligibility requirements are detailed on the applications that are linked above. UPDATE: SAT and ACT SCORES ON GFF SCHOLARSHIP ARE SUSPENDED FOR THIS YEAR. DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2021 The Amazon Future Engineer scholarship program assists high school seniors who have completed a computer science course and plan to continue their education by attaining a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other computer science related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or university. Recipients of the award receive $10,000 at an accredited four-year college or university as well as a paid summer internship at Amazon after their freshman year of college.
DEADLINE: February 18, 2021 at 3 pm Central Time Each year The Better Business Bureau Serving Western VA offers scholarships recognizing “Students of Integrity.” These scholarships are designed to identify and promote ethics and integrity among young people. The BBB will award scholarships to graduating high school seniors who personify the best aspects of strong character in their personal choices and actions.
The BBB Social Scholar Video Contest requires students to create up to a three-minute video illustrating your commitment to ethical life-long decision- making and complete an application. DEADLINE: FEBRAURY 28, 2021 The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship program addresses the financial needs of college students and provides extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. APPLICATION DUE: FEBRUARY 1 The Blacksburg Community Band established the Blacksburg Community Band Founder’s Scholarship in 2013. The scholarship was established to recognize and support an outstanding area high school student who demonstrates an on-going passion for music and commitment to community service. The $500 scholarship award can be applied towards music lessons, instrument repair, instrument purchase, or tuition.
