The local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will award a $1,000 to a local graduating senior. Applicants must submit a cover letter, applicant data (more detail in attachment), 3 letters of reference, and a 500-800 word essay on some positive topic related to the the American Revolution. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship.

The award for the Jefferson Scholarship and the Walentas Scholarship is intended to cover the entire cost of attendance for four years at the University of Virginia.
Jefferson and Walentas Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have undergone a rigorous selection process and who possess an exceptional record of accomplishment both inside and outside the classroom. No one may apply for a Jefferson or Walentas Scholarship directly. Candidates must be nominated by their high schools based on their demonstrated excellence and exceptional potential in the areas of leadership, scholarship, and citizenship. Walentas Scholars must also be the first or among the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. To learn more about the program, click here. If you would like to be considered as the Blacksburg High School nominee for the Jefferson Scholars and/or the Walenas Scholars program complete this form and follow all directions. All students who submit these materials by Sept 31 will be reviewed by the BHS nomination selection committee; the committee will select ONE student for each scholarship as the nominee(s). Most valuable student scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their classes, active in their schools and communities, and recognized as leaders by their peers. 500 scholarships will be awarded, ranging from $1,000 to $12,500 per year. Applicants will be judged on leadership, academic achievements and records, community involvement, and financial need. Each delegate will receive a $10,000 scholarship and an all expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for the week of March 5-12, 2022.
Each public and private high school may submit up to three applications. Students interested in applying will complete an application and submit an essay response.
