The Youth Awards was founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Now entering its 23rd year, the Youth Awards honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Engineering, Green Sustainability, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Public Service & Social Justice, Sports & Fitness and Technology.
Gold, Silver and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time grant to fund their college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.

DEADLINE: January 31, 2022 Each year the American Legion nationally awards more than $140,000 in
scholarship funds to local high schools students. Locally Post 59 will award $250 to the first place winner, who will then proceed the state level then onto Nationals where the top three finalist can win $25,000, $22,500 and $20,000 respectively in scholarships toward their college education. The $5,000 one-year, merit-based academic scholarship acknowledges students who demonstrate superior intellectual promise, academic performance, dedication to their communities, interest and success in physical fitness and health, and unimpeachable integrity. Applicants must have a 3.8 or better GPA. (This award/scholarship is for any VT freshmen, not only for Pamplin Business students.) BHS may nominate one student for the award. Duerr Memorial Fund for women (undergraduate or graduate) who plan to attend, or are already enrolled in, an accredited college or university for the entire 2022-2023 academic year.
Awards of approximately $2000 will be given to those applicants who best demonstrate academic achievement and community service.
