The intent of the Jimmie Bryan scholarship is to provide two scholarships to young athletes who are graduation from a VHSL member school and who intend to teach and coach in Virginia. Candidates must earn a minimum of 6 Varsity Athletic Letter awards in high school and the Scholarship will be competition based on the GPA of the applicants.

The Montgomery County Farm Bureau Scholarship Program may provide a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from a Montgomery County High School. Qualified candidates will be graduating seniors from MCPS, be accepted to a college or university, and preference will be given to applicants pursuing agricultural degrees.

Valeant Dermatology will award nine individual scholarships of up to $10,000 each to students who will be attending undergraduate or graduate education programs during the 2017–2018 school year. The aim of the scholarship program is to recognize students who have been diagnosed and treated for a dermatologic condition and are pursuing their goal of a higher education degree. DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2017
The Virginia School Counselors Association has announced the 2017 Scholarship Essay Competition. Participants are asked to submit a one (1) page essay of no more than 500 words about a School Counselor (Elementary, Middle, or High School) who has made a difference in your academic, career, and/or social development. Participatns should be high school seniors planning to pursue a post-secondary opportunity, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. All applications are due by March 17, 2017. No LATE applications will be considered. At least one scholarship of $1,000.00 will be awarded.

The Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating Virginia high school student who excels in the area of sports journalism and must be pursuing a college degree in journalism, communication, video, media or a related field with intentions of pursuing a career in sports.

The Virginia Department of Education announces the Granville P. Meade Scholarship which provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college.

Applications are due to Ms. Dwoyer by March 10. Please note, this application will require at least four recommendation letters, so if you plan to apply you should start this application and contact recommenders as soon as possible.

The Blacksburg and Christiansburg Police Departments and the Montgomery County Sherriff’s Department are partnering with New River Community College (NRCC) to provide an educational opportunity for current high school seniors from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Auburn and Eastern Montgomery High Schools.
Police Science major is preferred; however, alternate degree programs may be considered based on approval by the NRCC Educational Foundation.

The Blue Ridge Council of Teachers of Mathematics scholarship is awarded to a senior planning on entering the field of mathematics education. It is $500 and is renewable for 3 years (a total of $2000) provided the student continues in mathematics education and is a student in good standing.
