Debbie was dedicated to the growth of young athletes. She spent many of her free hours helping young athletes improve and perfect their skills. It was her goal to help young athletes become the best they could be. The Debbie Snell Memorial Scholarship is being offered to help a student athlete further their education. In order to be selected as a candidate for this scholarship you must be a student athlete with a GPA of at least 2.5.

DEADLINE: MARCH 23, 2017
The Virginia School Counselors Association has announced the 2017 Scholarship Essay Competition. Participants are asked to submit a one (1) page essay of no more than 500 words about a School Counselor (Elementary, Middle, or High School) who has made a difference in your academic, career, and/or social development. Participatns should be high school seniors planning to pursue a post-secondary opportunity, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. All applications are due by March 17, 2017. No LATE applications will be considered. At least one scholarship of $1,000.00 will be awarded.

The Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating Virginia high school student who excels in the area of sports journalism and must be pursuing a college degree in journalism, communication, video, media or a related field with intentions of pursuing a career in sports.

The Virginia Department of Education announces the Granville P. Meade Scholarship which provides financial assistance to students who have achieved academically, but who are financially unable to attend college.
You can find a copy of the application by clicking here or see Ms. Dwoyer in guidance. If you plan to apply for this scholarship you have to email Ms. Dwoyer by February 28 at email@example.com. Applications are due to Ms. Dwoyer by March 10. Please note, this application will require at least four recommendation letters, so if you plan to apply you should start this application and contact recommenders as soon as possible.

The Blacksburg and Christiansburg Police Departments and the Montgomery County Sherriff’s Department are partnering with New River Community College (NRCC) to provide an educational opportunity for current high school seniors from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Auburn and Eastern Montgomery High Schools.
Police Science major is preferred; however, alternate degree programs may be considered based on approval by the NRCC Educational Foundation.

This award will recognize outstanding Math / Science seniors, who also exhibit Rotary’s ideal of Service Above Self. This award will be selected from nominations received from Montgomery County seniors. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship for next fall’s college tuition costs.
This award is to encourage good personal character and Math or Science careers among MCPS students. Therefore, your personal character, service to others, your past Math / Science achievements and your further pursuit of a Math or Science education will weigh heavily in the selection process.

The Roanoke Valley Wrestling Association will award the Stan Parker Memorial Scholarship in the amount of at least $1,000. The scholarship will be based on financial need and a connection to wrestling. Qualified candidates will be active in wrestling and student activities or be the son or daughter of a coach, official, or someone actively involved in the wrestling community. The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship doesn’t require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.

Shelor Toyota is proud to offer $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors who wish to further their education after high school. These scholarships are open to all students, regardless of your career ambitions! Scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded to seniors who have met the qualifications and have the highest ratings as compared to other applicants. Eligible seniors may attend any of the four Montgomery County High Schools, Radford High School, Pulaski County High School, Craig County High School, Floyd County High School, Giles High School, or Narrows High School.
To apply for one of these scholarships, applicants must complete the entire application process by March 13th, 2017. Applications postmarked after March 13th will not be considered for selection.
