George Marshall Holmes was a resident of Blacksburg, Virginia. At his request, a scholarship has been established in his name for a deserving student/students at Blacksburg High School through the National Bank of Blacksburg. In order to qualify for this scholarship, the student(s) should be highly qualified academically, demonstrate financial need, and must attend Virginia Tech as a full time student in the fall of 2018. The Rev. George Ducker Scholarship is awarded in memory of the Reverend George L. Ducker, member of the New River Community Action Board of Directors 1986-1992, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Radford, Radford City School Board and United Way Board member, community leader and advocate of quality education for all. The Hunters Lodge of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Virginia is providing a $500 scholarship to a deserving student graduating from BHS. Students are selected on the basis of merit and need. Merit includes academic achievement, class rank, standardized test scores, participation in high school, community, church or synagogue activities, as well as the quality of application essays. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Montgomery County and Radford Scholarship Fund has announced their 2018 Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding high school senior who plans to pursue studies in a human services/human medical field. The recipient will receive a $1000 scholarship for tuition assistance

The Roanoke Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is part of a national organization of 8,500 women in two hundred and forty-one chapters, from coast to coast, and on other continents. The Links, Incorporated is a volunteer service organization of concerned, committed, and talented women who are linked in friendship and who enhance the quality of life in the broader community. The Roanoke Chapter is awarding two (2) Academic Scholarships in the amount of $500.00 (each scholarship) to eligible 2018 graduating seniors. The "One" Memorial Scholarship Honoring Hunter Nathanael Smith (BHS Class of 2011) is awarded to a senior graduating from Blacksburg High School and continuing his or her education at a four-year college or university. Each spring, the Blue Ridge Council of Teachers of Mathematics offers a scholarship in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) to a graduating senior from a public high school in our council's service region. The purpose of this scholarship is to support a student interested in pursuing a teaching career in mathematics. The application and documents are due by April 27, 2018. Click here to apply online.
