The UVA Jefferson Scholars program awards scholarships to students intended to cover the cost of four years of attendance at UVA. This prestigious program selects students who have demonstrated uncommon academic abilities, exceptional leadership talents, and an understanding of the broader community around them. The scholarship program is highly selective, high schools may only nominate one or two students per school. To learn more about the program, click here.
If you would like to be considered as the Blacksburg High School nominee to the Jefferson Scholars program you submit the following information to Ms. Dwoyer ([email protected]) by Sept 28: Resume of your accomplishments including, but not limited to: List of academic projects you have been recognized for and other awards you have received; Extracurricular activities, including community service and other activities outside of the classroom. Short essay (around a paragraph): Discuss why you would like to be considered for the nomination, what going to UVA and being part of the program would mean to you as well as your college career. All students who submit these materials will be reviewed by the BHS nomination selection committee; the committee will select ONE student as the nominee. The nominee will be notified by October 5 and will have until December 1 to complete their Jefferson Scholar’s Program application. BHS DEADLINE (MATERIALS TO MS. DWOYER): September 28
